VISION AND MISSION
Families with LGBTQ children and those with LGBTQ parents both face stigmatization at many levels—institutionally, within social networks, and as individuals. For these families, small nonprofit organizations work to build community and acceptance, and researchers work to increase understanding and support. All seek to alleviate stigma and improve the lives of families with LGBTQ people, but historically, outreach for nonprofits and for research has been separate, as has been outreach to families with LGBTQ parents and to those with LGBTQ children—resulting in multiple sets of budgetary, privacy and technical challenges to reach similar populations, and limiting outreach capacity for nonprofits and researchers alike. To dramatically scale up the impact and size of nonprofits and research, the logical innovation is to share a common outreach solution.
Dedicated entirely to families with LGBTQ children or parents, The Constellation Project is a nonprofit, privacy-focused, integrated data resource that can simultaneously grow lists for organizational outreach and registries for research recruitment, making excellent data science available to the nonprofit organizations that serve these families and to the researchers who seek to keep these families strong, healthy and united.
